End of Swim (Session 1)

Today was the last day of Haylee's first swim session. She loved it so much that we signed her up for another 2 week session at the end of July so she can swim when Madison starts. Madi had to be 30 months old before she could do a swim session on her own, without me. Below are a few videos from her day. On the last day of a 2 week session the parents can sit around the pool rather than behind the 1 way glass.

The last day the kids got to go on the water slide! Haylee was so excited.

VBS 2011

Last week went spent everyday at Vacation Bible School. It was a long but rewarding week. It is so much fun teaching VBS and getting to spend the week watching my girls learn about Jesus. Haylee and Madi had a great week. This year Haylee was able to participate in the real thing. VBS is for ages 4- 5th grade so she did everything that my 1st graders did. We saw each other a few times in the hall and she loved that. Madison went with the 2 & 3 year old workers kids and did a ton of stuff with her teachers. They loved Madi and Madi loved sharing her crafts with us in the afternoons. I guess she will be ready for preschool this year.

Naptime Seranade

After VBS Madison decided she wasn't so tired. Instead of taking a nap, she decided to sing.

The same song. For 2 hours.

Yes, Lady Gaga.

Even funnier...Every night we sing Jesus Loves Me and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. Last night I asked her what song she wanted to sing first and her reply was, Gaga Ooh La La. She wanted me to sing Lady Gaga as a bedtime song!

Father's Day 2011

This year when I asked the girls what we should get Daddy for Father's Day, Haylee said a fruit basket. For every holiday Haylee wants to get an edible arrangement. It is her favorite gift to give. Read about The Gift from last year. So rather than buying one I decided that we could make one for Travis. Then it would mean a lot more. We went to Hobby Lobby to look for a container, then to the grocery store for fruit. When we got home we began to assemble our gift. Each of the girls made several skewers all by themselves. They were so proud!

The girls each made their dad a picture frame and picked out their own card. I was extremely proud of Haylee when I heard her sounding out the words she was writing to her daddy. Here is what she wrote.

It reads, " I love my dad. Happy father's day daddy."

It was really easy for me to see since I read beginning writers work all the time.

Travis with his girls!

Read the girls shirts! Super cute.

Happy Father's Day to the hardest working, most dedicated, best daddy in the whole world! Our girls are so lucky to have you as their dad and I am so blessed to be your wife.

Love you Trav!

Sweet Moments

I'd like to say that my girls are ALWAYS sweet to each other, but that is not always the case. However, I'd say they are sweet to each other about 95% of the time, which is pretty good I think!

Today while I was doing some laundry, I heard little voices on the baby monitor. I grabbed my phone and went into Madison's room to find the picture below. Melt my heart!!

*** I guess since I am back into blogging I need to carry my good camera in my pocket rather than my phone. The quality isn't so good.

Swim Lessons and a Potty Party

Haylee has been in swim lessons for 6 days. She began the first day very scared of the water. She did not want to go under water. Here are a couple videos of what she is practicing in the pool with Coach Hector, who by the way is a WONDERFUL coach. I am so super impressed with Houston Swim Club Katy and I am thrilled that Haylee now loves the pool.

We also had a little "potty party" for Madi at Chuck E Cheese tonight. Last Wednesday we started the potty chart. The first day went well, only a couple of accidents. The second day was BAD. By the third day, something clicked. She would not let me touch a pull up, which was really a great sign. For a couple days we have had no accidents and today we celebrated!

The Past 6 Months in Iphone Pictures

Here are some random pictures from the past 6 months that were taken on my phone.
(Sorry about the quality.)

Just turned 2 but she looks so grown up!
We took Haylee to her first Houston Rodeo. We surprised her with Sugarland tickets so she could hear her favorite song, Stuck Like Glue!

Haylee was promoted to the next level in gymnastics!

My class at school raised the most money for wildcat conservation. We won an extra field trip to the zoo to present the schools check. We were given a special presentation at the lion's den.

Spring time fun!

Haylee, or Ms. Hollywood, fishing with her daddy.

Haylee's first Astros game. Cody caught her a homerun ball during batting practice.

A special treat to Yogurt Mountain after a terrifing visit to the Easter Bunny!

The beginning of SUMMER!

Ready to mow at the beach house.

A wedding and a night out for mommy and daddy!

Back to the Blog

I am finally back! Aside from feeling guilty about not documenting for the girls the last few months, I decided that with the start of summer there was no better time to get back into it! I am not going to back track. I may put random posts here and there but for today I am starting with yesterday!

School is out! We started the summer break with a trip to the beach! I didn't take any pictures. We simply enjoyed each other's company and hung out at the beach most of the day! Both of the girls really enjoy being down there. They will play in the sand and in the water as long as you let them (or as long as there are snacks for Madi)!

Monday morning we came home to a busy day. Haylee had swim lessons and gymnastics followed by an early bedtime for everyone. Tuesday we spent the day making potty charts and chore charts! It's time to get this potty thing down. Madi is TERRIFIED of the potty. So, I am planning on staying home the next 3 days and doing nothing but encouraging her to go potty. I am crossing my fingers it works!

Here are a few pictures of the girls.
