Maternity Pics

My sister in law, Melissa, came over tonight to take some maternity photos for me to put up in Madi's room. A lot of them came out really good. Here are some of my favorites!

Our due date is one month from yesterday. I go for a check up tomorrow! We can't wait to meet our new baby girl and Haylee is excited to be a big sister!

Eventful 2009...already!

I am going to recap the last week, in order, beginning with Tuesday December, 30.

Tuesday afternoon I took Haylee to the doctor for her 2 year checkup. She is 24 pounds and 32 inches tall. Getting so BIG! She had one shot and again didn't flinch. She has really high pain tolerance! What a good baby!

During the doctor appointment I asked him about getting something for a cough that began the night before. He recommended an over the counter medicine and said if it didn't help to call back the next day and he would call something in for her. Of course it didn't help and Haylee woke up with a fever. So I called the doctor back on Wednesday (New Year's Eve) and he called in a perscription for an antibiotic. So our New Year's Eve looked like this...

lot's of coughing, high fever, and throwing up due to coughing. Not to mention the medicine tasted nasty so it was a MAJOR fight to get her to take it. Poor Baby!

New Year's day Haylee still had fever and was still coughing. Of course I thought, it would take a couple of days to get the medicine in her working but, by Friday when the cough and fever were still there I called the doctor to see if he wanted to take a look at her. I was surprised when he sent us to the hospital for chest x-rays and blood work. Friday afternoon we went back to the doctor for the results. Haylee had a viral bronchiolitis infection. While we were in the office they checked her blood oxygen level which was 87 and did a nebulizer treatment to see if it would bring up the number. Your oxygen level needs to be 95 or higher. Anything lower needs to be treated with supplements. The treatment brought her level up only to 88. Once again I was shocked when the doctor said that Haylee needed to be admitted in the hospital overnight for oxygen supplements. I thought I was just bringing her into the office for some medicine and we would be on our way. So, Friday night we checked into the hospital for a 5 day vacation (HA!). That's right...overnight turned into 4 night stay.

On Saturday my sister, Kristen, had to go ahead and deliver the twins due to concern of one of the babies heart rate. Kristen did a great job through her pregnancy. She made it to 32 weeks and the babies look beautiful.

I can't wait to meet my new little nieces. BTW, they are both doing great for being so premature.

At our hospital we were hoping we woul be going home but Haylee had other plans. Saturday and Sunday Haylee's oxygen levels were showing little improvement. She was recieving IV fluids because she wasn't eating, steroids, antibiotics, oxygen through a nasal cannula, and nebulizer treatments every 4 hours with percussion therapy. (Percussion therapy basically looks like someone is beating the heck out of you. No, it actually looks like a really hard massage.) Monday we began another approach to try to get her to take deeper breaths and expand her lung capacity. We were blowing bubbles all day and walking down to the playroom for 15 minute increments. This must have helped because in the middle of the night, Monday they took her off all the oxygen and her numbers manage to stay in the appropriate range the rest of the night and Tuesday during the day. So we were discharged!! YAY! At home we are still required to give her nebulizer treatments every 4 hours, even through the night and we will return for a follow up appointment in 2 days. We were so excited to come home. Haylee was excited to come home and see the dogs. Almost as excited as she was when we arrived at the hospital on Friday and they put on an Elmo diaper. Apparently pampers have Elmo and we use Huggies which have Mickey and Minnie on them. She was SO excited about the diaper! LOL!

We colored, read books, watched movies (Tinker Bell a lot), and played games.

On Monday we began going down to the playroom and daddy taught her how to ride on the IV machine. Tuesday when I took her back to play she wanted to do it again so I decided to snap a picture.

I do have to say that I am SO PROUD of my baby girl! She was put through hell the last 5 days yet she still had a smile on her face (most of the time) and was very cooperative. Everyone of her nurses and respitory therapists were so amazed at her cooperation and behavior. They said they have never seen a 2 year old act the way she did. She didn't freak out during the IV, chest x-rays, or anything where she was poked. The nebulizer was a different story. Haylee doesn't like things with loud noises. She did best with the treatments in the arms of her daddy or at night when she was half asleep.

Tuesday I also had my weekly doctor's appointment. She didn't do an exam for fear of me going into labor. I have not been consistent with my medication due to the chaos of this week. So, next week I will no longer have to take the medicine and our precious baby girl can arrive anytime! It's crazy to think that within the next 5 weeks we will be a family of 4! So exciting!

I had a dr. appt last Thursday. I didn't see the dr. because she had to go deliver a baby so I guess they decided to do my last ultrasound. It was so great to see little Madi again. I only wish they would have told me I was having an ultrasound so Travis could have been there. Things look great with Madi. She is weighing about 4.4 pounds and has a full head of hair like her big sister did.
I go back on Tuesday and will have blood drawn for my anemia test (I was anemic with Haylee and had to take extra iron pills.) and will also be put on a monitor to see if I am having some contractions. Things are moving right along and Madison will be here before we know it!

Thanksgiving Week

My Thanksgiving holidays began afterschool on Tuesday. First, before heading over to pick up Haylee, I had a doctors appointment. Things have been going fine except I was beginning to feel some pressure and felt that Madison had dropped some already since I can now see my feet where as a couple of weeks ago I couldn't. So, the dr. decided to go ahead and do an examine. Sure enough I have already began dialating. I am now on "modified" bedrest and no more work! I was really hoping to make it these last three weeks before the Christmas holidays. I have been pretty upset about not being able to work and having to be on bedrest again, but with Thanksgiving I have realized I have SO much to be thankful for. I now have this time to spend at home with Haylee before Madison arrives. I have so many helpful and caring family members and friends. I also have a wonderful, hardworking, husband and best friend. We had a low key Thanksgiving this year. Around 2:00 we went over to Travis' mom and dad's house for Thanksgiving dinner and the Aggie/UT game. Here are some pictures that Melissa took.

Happy Birthday to Me!

For my birthday I asked for money or gift cards so that I could buy this...

Tonight we went to Best Buy to buy it. Travis also bought me a memory card and the new photoshop! I am super excited to play with the camera this weekend.

I have a lot to learn about it.

We were joking around the other day about the number of cameras Travis has bought me. He has bought me a new one every year since we have been married. (4 years) Some people like jewelry, some like purses, and some like shoes. I like cameras! HA HA

I told him this one will last for a while. I now have a nice point and shoot and DSLR.

This afternoon I also had my weekly dr. appointment. Everything is still looking good. I am measuring right on schedule. I have made it past the point that I went into pre term labor with Haylee. We are taking everything day by day! The only problem I am having is some back pain. It's not like sciatica, its just lower back pain. During school and at home I am trying to stay off my feet as much as possible. However, having an almost 2 year old running around doesn't allow me to "relax" for extended periods of time. :o)

My next appointment is on Tuesday due to Thanksgiving.

Also, I am really excited about TWILIGHT! I have tickets for Saturday. I can not wait! I went to this website www.cafepress.com looking for T-Shirts. I was really tempted to get one but didn't want to pay the express shipping. Check it out if you are a "twilighter". They are really funny. That was my other problem, I couldn't figure out which one to get. :o)

Update

Last Thursday I went to my 27 week appointment. I went in early to do the glucose test. I passed by 1 point! An hour after drinking the glucose drink, my blood sugar was supposed to be less than 135. Mine was 134! So I passed this time around! I also saw the doctor for a regular check up. Everything is looking good. She gave me a steroid shot as a precautionary measure because of my history of pre-term labor. It is to help the baby with lung development. I will be going to the docotor weekly for check ups (already). I feel blessed that I have a doctor who is taking such good care of myself and baby Madison.

Friday I left work early to return to the doctor for the second dose of the steroid. It is a series of 2 shots that have to be within 24 hours of each other. It is a very thick injection that doesn't feel very good! You can feel the liquid travel in your veins and it burns for a few minutes. So, I will be returning to the doctor on Thursday for my weekly check up. After this week I will have passed the week that I went into pre-term with Haylee. We are trying to take it easy and taking it one day at a time.

On Saturday, my neighbor Kindell threw me a shower for baby Madi. It was family and close friends. Of course it was fabulous and we receieved many great gifts. We got a crib soother, mobile, swing, new bottles, some cute clothes, diapers, blankets, a Vera Bradley diaper bag, another monitor, a bather, hairbow holder, wall letters, gift cards, a boppy, a purple boppy cover, new bath towels, and some car seat toys. I am probably forgetting something... I have a few pictures to post.

This week will finish up busy as well. I have reading night at school, a doctor's appointment, and we are going to San Antonio this weekend. We are taking Haylee to Sesame Street Live to see:

26 Weeks

Here are a couple of cute pics recently taken of Haylee. I had one of her toys up on the counter so I could replace the batteries. She watched me do it and a little while later while we were cooking dinner she knew exactly what to do.

I went to the doctor on Thursday for my 24 week appopintment. Things are going well. I created a totsite for Madison. I loved doing it with Haylee and it was a great way to keep up with her baby book. I plan on using it for Madi until her first birthday. Check out the site for more details on the appointment.

We are really excited with our choice and can't wait to get started in her room. (We may begin this weekend due to hurricane Ike). Here is a little peek at our choice...



We are planning on painting the walls green and pink. We haven't really decided how we are going to do it, but we have time to decide. There is a lot to clean out first. I have been using her room for the past 3 years as a storage room.

It's a ....

Last Thrusday, Travis ran into our next door neighbors at the store and sometime during the conversation he mentioned that we were finding out the sex of the baby on Tuesday. Joy, the wife, told him that we don't need to pay the extra money for that ultrasound because they had one next door. We knew that they both did ultrasounds for a living but didn't know that the husband had a portable machine since he travels for his position. He specializes in heart ultrasounds and she specializes in baby ultrasounds. She is also in school to become an OB. They both moved from New York, with their 6 kids, last year.

So, Friday night he knocked on the door and said that we could come on over to do the ultrasound. Let me start of by saying it was the BEST ultrasound I have ever had. She wasn't on a time schedule due to other appointments so she was able to really take her time. The baby looks very healthy and very active! We were able to see the chambers in the heart, the hemispheres of the brain, the spine, all 10 fingers and toes...EVERYTHING. It was flipping all around, sucking its thumb, crossing its feet, so cute. She also said that the baby has already developed it kidney's and other organs so she thinks I am atleast 17 weeks along. Based on the first ultrasound I had I am about 15 weeks 5 days and based on my last period I should be 18 weeks. So, somewhere between that January 31 (our first due date) and February 11 (our current due date) we should be expecting a new baby GIRL!

We are all excited and I can't wait to watch the two girls grow up together! Haylee will be a wonderful big sister! We are still discussing names and other details so we will update when we have made some decisions!

Baby News...

I have two bits of news. Travis and I decided to go ahead with the gender scan at our next appointment! He has been working hard and putting in a lot of overtime hours so why notpay a little extra to find out a little early what we are having if we can. I can not wait! I am the person who buys Christmas presents early but can not wait to give them to Travis. So, most of the time he gets them early. I am really impatient! We are both very excited to find out what this baby is. Hopefully we will be able to tell and it will cooperate during the ultrasound. So the countdown is:

13 more days (August 26)

Other news that I don't think I told my blog family is about my sister, Kristen's, pregnancy. Remember I said that we are both having a baby around the same time. We are 2 weeks apart and they just found that they are not only expecting baby #1 but also baby #2! They are having twins!! How exciting!

Aww...Last one for the day

This morning I had a doctor appt. I just thought I would give an update.

Dr. says I am 12 weeks and doing great. I have only gained 2 pounds. I had a million vials of blood drawn! It was a quick and easy appt. Nothing too exciting except I got to hear the heartbeat which is always amazing.

Next appt. I will be 16 and 1/2 weeks. They offer a gender scan ultrasound at that appt. for a small fee or we can wait one more month for our BIG ultasound. I don't know if I can wait that long. We didn't have that option with Haylee. So we will see what we decide to do.

My days are running out...Next week I have two workshops, one the following week and 2 after that. In between those days I will be going up to school to begin setting up my room. I hope to be extremely organized this year. When I went into pre term labor with Hay, my room was not ready for my sub, so... I am going to work on that in August.
